Berkshire South Regional Community Center
Carefully copied the model to full size, using heavy stainless steel rods as an armature. This was the first time I had done the armature and now is standard procedure.
I was asked to design and build a sculpture to honor the founder of the Berkshire South Regional Community Center, Edwin Jaffe. Ed was a businessman who loved taking photographs of flowers. I decided to take one of his images of a bulb, and make it more figurative, giving it a feeling of community. It is made from forged and welded stainless steel. I used an armature of stainless rods for the first time, adding plates of stainless to patch in the entire surface. I made a 39” model to show the client called “Lola”.
