Pagan Lamp
Pagan Lamp, 1993, welded and brazed steel, fused and slumped stained glass, 72” diameter
In 1993, I was showing a five sided chandelier at Greene Street Antiques in SOHO, New York and a designer saw it and commissioned a large lamp. I designed the Pagan Lamp at 72” diameter, basing the design on West African wood carvings of antelopes, and gazelles. All was fabricated in welded and brazed steel. I went on to build five more 48” diameter versions that are in California, Atlanta, Chicago, and Connecticut. One had become available in California, and is now back at Zeitz’ studio on Martha’s Vineyard.

Madison Avenue interior designer Timothy MacDonald, saw my Pagan Lamp and asked me to design a version for a large dining room table in Kiawah Island, SC. This 34” x 28” x 60” lamp has a matching wall sconce which I still make. It was shown in Architectural Digest (May 1997)
