Psalms

Psalms is a fused stained glass window with metal oxide underpainting. It depicts a dance from 1977 that used the first two movements of Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms as the music. Choreography was by William Costanza. I was drawing the dance with casein paints, and was one of the dancers in a later production. In 1978, I did a glass on glass mosaic 23’ X 29” which sold in Boston in 1980. This past year (2023) Bill Costanza died and in paying tribute to him, I decided to do a fused glass version of the drawing and glass mosaic. I have since produced three versions, each becoming increasingly darker. The third darkest one sold in New York. The first two lighter ones are at my studio in Vineyard Haven. The frame is welded and carved stainless steel.
