Psalms

Psalms

Psalms is a fused stained glass window with metal oxide underpainting. It depicts a dance from 1977 that used the first two movements of Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms as the music. Choreography was by William Costanza. I was drawing the dance with casein paints, and was one of the dancers in a later production. In 1978, I did a glass on glass mosaic 23’ X 29” which sold in Boston in 1980. This past year (2023) Bill Costanza died and in paying tribute to him, I decided to do a fused glass version of the drawing and glass mosaic. I have since produced three versions, each becoming increasingly darker. The third darkest one sold in New York. The first two lighter ones are at my studio in Vineyard Haven.
