PSALMS MOSAIC
Psalms Mosaic
Psalms Mosaic, 1978, stained glass on glass mosaic, 23” x 29”, based on a painting I did in 1977. The image is of a dance performed using Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein. Choreography was by William Constance of Vineyard Dance. I first watched the dance and did the painting, then performed the dance in a later version, so I felt the motion. The mosaic sold to a principal dance of the Boston Ballet and her husband, theater manager of the then Metropolitan Center (now Wang Center for the Performing Arts).
When William Costanza died in 2023, I decided to revisit the image and use the painting again to create fused glass versions. I’ve done three versions, each progressively darker.
